Hi, my name is Benjamin and I'm an aspiring artist and future game designer.

I've just begun the journey of a lifetime by leaving the safe and comfortable world of engineering design and entering a world of creativity and adventure in game development.  Life changing moments don't come around all the time so when you see an opportunity it's important to remember "it's never too late to try something new".

Every day I'm in the desirable position of being taught something new and witnessing work which both inspires and excites. I hope to put what I learn into practice, as this site will come to document over time.

So, now comes the hard bit: Ensuring dedication and preparing for the long road ahead. I plan to make these dreams come true by working towards my Advanced Diploma in Screen and Media at Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia. I am lucky enough to be taught by a number of fantastically talented tutors surrounded by equally enthusiastic peers who are eager to share ideas, tips and techniques all the while bringing a smile to my day.

Where once I designed by Engineering rules and physical boundaries, I'm now able to draw utilising my imagination. It's here I get to unlock the creative outlet I felt my life always needed. All industries have rules, of course, only some are more relaxed than others. In game design my rules would be governed by the programming code written and the need for strict planning to enable me to execute projects effectively. Through industry standard tools such as Photoshop, Maya & zbrush, (the gateways to content creation in games), I'm able to build my work into 3d models that are game ready before using them within Unity and UE. I'm able to bring my creations to life and suddenly the bigger picture seems possible.

In addition to visual designs I'm gaining a great deal of knowledge and insight into the audio and animation side of design and I'm reminded just how complicated game design can be at times. Mastering all of these elements might be ambitious but there's no reason I shouldn't aim high; after all, I think it's important to understand the full spectrum of elements that go into game design.

Thanks for checking the site out. I'd love to hear any feedback you may have and cheers to the future!
